Jenny Fitzgerald

Executive Director

Jenny first came to Jackson in 2011 and worked for Grand Teton National Park as a Bear Management Ranger. Growing up in Ithaca, NY, Jenny had never been west, but like many, she fell in love with everything Jackson Hole had to offer. With a degree in Natural Resources and Animal Science from Cornell University, Jenny pursued a career in wildlife in Jackson and elsewhere. She primarily worked with mountain lions for many years with Panthera in the Gros Ventre Mountains, and in Northern Chihuahua, Mexico, alongside the Mexican Grey Wolf reintroduction. She then worked with the National Park Service in the Santa Monica Mountains outside LA. Her work with urban wildlife was an invaluable experience in examining coexistence at a hyper scale outside one of the country's biggest metropolises.

Jackson has been home regardless of where Jenny was working. The culture, wildness, and wildlife suit her, and what she’s passionate about. Jenny has worked many jobs in the community over the years to make living here possible, which has given her even more perspective on the issues we face as a rapidly changing community.

Fitzgerald's heart is in wildlife conservation, and she recognizes that many avenues need to be considered to protect wildlife, and most of them have a human component. Because of the human dimension of wildlife conservation, Jenny has also developed a passion for education and recognizes the importance of ongoing education within the community to protect the wildlife and wild places that grab hold of us and never make us want to leave.
