Board Member

Marcia has been an active conservationist since leaving her career as a journalist. This is her return engagement with the Alliance, where she served as a board member and chairwoman more than two decades ago. She has also served on the boards of Earthjustice, The Wilderness Society, the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, and the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole.

Marcia became active in conservation shortly after ending her journalism days and moving to Jackson Hole in 1999, where she and her husband, Joe Albright, renovated an historic, remote ranch. Running it as a wilderness guest ranch provided strong motivation to preserve nature and its grandeur in Jackson Hole – and beyond.

Her professional career included work in the US and as a foreign correspondent. Marcia and Joe co-authored three history books about the Middle East, international espionage, and the beguiling 100-year story of Flat Creek Ranch. Journalists and conservationists share some commonalities, she believes, pointing to the roles of watchdog and communicator—essential jobs at the Alliance.
