The Movie to Keep Squaw True: Wyoming Premiere

January 30, 2019 at 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$10

Jackson isn’t the only community working to protect its local ski hill – we can learn from other mountain towns who have done the same.

The Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance is excited to present “The Movie to Keep Squaw True.” This powerful film tells the epic story of a mountain community rising up to defend the integrity of an incredible place.

Official Trailer – The Movie to Keep Squaw True from Sierra Watch on Vimeo.

When private developers came to Tahoe to transform Squaw Valley into a Vegas-style amusement park, they ran into a mountain of community commitment, organized as the movement to Keep Squaw True.

The movie tells the inspiring story of the ongoing seven-year struggle to stand up and defend Squaw Valley, Lake Tahoe, and the Sierra Nevada.

The film was written and directed by brothers Robb (Squallywood) and Scott Gaffney (Matchstick Productions), and was produced by the environmental nonprofit, Sierra Watch. It features an unforgettable cast of enthusiastic Tahoe locals and iconic Squaw legends as they show the world how to band together and stand up for their mountain values.

After the film, there will be a raffle and Q&A with director Robb Gaffney. Come learn about Squaw Valley’s journey and how it compares to life in Jackson.

Tickets: $10/ or free with new Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance membership ($35)! Purchase at the door or online here.
