State Watch Party: NEPA & State Control

May 16, 2019 at 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm

After an eventful Cheyenne session, the legislature is back and starting interim committee meetings. We’ll be watching them, and invite you to join us!

The Minerals, Business, and Economic Development committee will study the possibility of the state entering into an agreement with the Department of the Interior to allow the state primacy and oversight over assessments done through the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA). We are concerned with this effort to allow the state oversight over federal land management decisions – just one more way Cheyenne is trying to take the public out of our American public lands.

As we saw over the last few months, decisions made in Cheyenne have a direct local impact. Luckily for us, our partners at the Equality State Policy Center pushed for years to have interim meeting recorded and live-streamed. So, join us for a watch party on May 16 at 3:30pm at the Alliance (685 S Cache) to see how the NEPA discussion unfolds.

Note: Meeting times subject to change – we’ll keep you posted with any updates.

You can also monitor and watch committee meetings on the state legislature website: https://wyoleg.gov/Committees/List/2019/J
