Meet our Intern: Mateo Lopez-Castro!

Meet our Intern: Mateo Lopez-Castro!

Mateo is visiting Jackson to work for the Alliance and explore his interests in journalism and the Grand Teton area. Meet our Development and Communications Intern!

Meet our Development and Communications Intern, Mateo Lopez-Castro!

Mateo was born in Baltimore, Maryland but moved to Pennington, New Jersey when he was eight years old. Mateo’s family is from Colombia, a place where Mateo has spent most of his summers and winters. He credits his decision to come to Jackson to his friends and parents, both of whom have always emphasized the importance of exploring the world and becoming educated on cultures that are different from his own.

Mateo currently attends the Pennington School, a prep school in New Jersey, but he will attend Syracuse University in the fall to study Journalism and Mass Communication. Mateo has had a good deal of experience with nonprofit organizations. He has been helping his father with his own nonprofit, Corporacion Imagina, throughout his entire life.

Mateo hopes to use his communication skills to help those whose voices aren’t heard tell their stories in a creative yet effective way. When he’s not working with the Alliance, Mateo is probably feeding his soccer obsession, listening to music, watching skiing videos, spending time with his friends and family, or playing with his chihuahua-terrier mix, Maya.
