Teton County Board of County Commissioners approved the Northern South Park Neighborhood plan with some amendments
At their July 5th hearing, the Teton County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) approved the Northern South Park Neighborhood Plan. Originally, the developer was entitled to build 118 units. Rather than develop the area in a piecemeal fashion, the Alliance, our members, and many from the community voiced a strong desire to see the area planned in a more holistic way by adopting a neighborhood plan.
The original neighborhood plan allowed up to 1,318 units on the property. The amended plan allows up to 1800 residential units, with the stipulation that the additional units include at least 70% deed restricted Workforce or Affordable housing. Next, Teton County and the Town of Jackson Joint Long Range Planning Team will use zoning tools to define allowable uses into the future. The County Planning Commission and BOCC will hold public hearings next spring or summer, then move on to zoning approval, and finally development plan approval.
An opportunity for smart development that provides critically needed workforce housing rarely comes along.
