Old Bills 2023

The 2023 Old Bill's 26th annual giving season has now ended! Thank you to everyone who donated for their generous support.

Donate during Old Bill's 26th Giving Season

When you give through Old Bill’s, you are helping us protect this special place. With your support, we are able to proactively protect wildlife and natural resources, advocate for responsible planning, empower the community to engage in grassroots efforts. and train the next generation of conservation leaders.

Old Bill’s Fun Run is critically important to many nonprofits in Jackson Hole. Historically, supporters like you have made Old Bill’s the Alliance’s single most important fundraising event of the year.

Thank you for your support, whether it’s your 1st or 26th gift to the Alliance through Old Bill’s Fun Run.

From today until September 15th, every dollar you donate will be partially matched by generous CoChallengers. We draw inspiration from the idea that the Old Bill’s race starts and ends together, “united in a greater purpose”.

The challenges faced by Jackson Hole grow every year. This year the Alliance released the first ever Teton County Coexistence Report. Additionally, we have advocated for preservation of Karns Meadow development and subsequent rezoneGrand Targhee Resort Master Plan, and the heavy metal concert at Heart 6 Ranch. And we provided important perspectives on development opportunities. The Alliance believes in smart, sustainable development that takes permeability and environmental impact into account.

When the environmental impact statement for the Grand Targhee ski area expansion is released, we will be ready to read, evaluate, and provide comment on it. Our organization is represented by employees in both the Bridger Teton Working Group, preparing for the Forest revision plan, and the WYDOT Highway 22 Advisory Board.

We will continue recommending new Land Development Regulations (LDR’s) that will improve wildlife habitat and permeability in our rural zone, transportation options that will focus on moving more people, instead of more cars, and increased diligence and advocacy including fighting with our state government to manage the lands in our county.

“When we lose, it’s forever. When we win, it’s only a stay of execution.”

-David Brower, the Sierra Club

This statement reminds us that we can never really take for granted that our work, past and current, is fully finished. Because there will always be those who want to take it from you and the wildlife you fight for, or the piece of habitat or permeability that our wildlife will never get back.

With your generous donation, the Alliance can continue to take steps towards a Jackson Hole that is united in a greater purpose, one of coexistence and longevity. We are grateful to the conservationists that came before us, and those who will come after us. After all, it takes community effort to preserve the land, wild places, and community character of Jackson Hole.
