Transportation Coalition Requests Traffic Mitigation Measures

Looking Ahead to 2023 Snake River Bridge Construction

This week, the Teton Transportation Coalition sent a letter to the Teton County Board of County Commissioners, urging the importance of communication with WYDOT ahead of the 2023 Snake River Bridge Construction. The letter was signed by members of the Coalition, including the Alliance, Chamber of Commerce, Teton Village Association, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, and numerous nonprofits and individuals.

Given that traffic conditions on Highway 22 are already beyond failure during peak hours, the Coalition is encouraging commissioners to discuss strategies to mitigate the traffic, safety, and economic impacts this significant project has the potential to bring. Mitigations could include double shift and/or nighttime construction, off-season work, ensuring the pathways remain usable, and incentives that reward early completion and effective traffic management.

The Alliance looks forward to working with the Teton Transportation Coalition on this and many other transportation issues. Collectively, we hope to move innovative ideas forward, amplify the voices of the community, and more effectively communicate with our electeds and WYDOT.

Read the full Teton Transportation Coalition letter and encourage your county commissioners to work with WYDOT to help mitigate the effects of the Snake River bridge construction on our community.
